Glenn Group was instrumental in the preparation of a multi-year business plan for the Van Horne Estate on Ministers Island Inc. The firm conducted the site analysis, developed the site and building program, and developed Class “C” cost estimates. Three interconnected themes of Bay of Fundy, Occupation, and Agriculture were used to guide in formulating a sustainable tourism plan for preserving the heritage and original design philosophy. The plan included distinct character areas with trails, interpretation, way-finding signage, parking, lookouts, historical restoration of the main buildings, revitalized gardens, water access via a new dock and introduction of seasonal roofed accommodation or cabins and restaurant. All the designs are representative of the “Van Horne” style. Detail cost estimates were generated along with 3D renderings and video simulation to communicate the design intent. In 2018 the firm was engaged by VHEMI to prepare an Interpretive Strategy to guide decision making for design and interpretation.
